"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the Church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent and treasure. Therefore, please accept my encouragement for your efforts and my prayers that your … will be a stimulus to the practice of stewardship in the Church."

— His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI

The parishioners at St. Matthew’s have always shown themselves to be generous stewards of the time, talent and treasure.  They have always come through when asked to help their church provide to those in need and for their fellow parishioners.  They truly have followed the many teachings on discipleship:

Be hospitable to one another without complaining. As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace. Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:9-11

In the past, parishioners have asked if they could make their gift to the church by credit card or by some on-line payment process.  St. Matthew Catholic Church can now offer parishioners that option.  It's Parish Pay.  By enrolling in Parish Pay, parishioners can set up an automatic, monthly contribution to St. Matthews.

Here's how--go online to http://www.parishpay.com, a secure website and at the prompt--type in "St. Matthew Catholic Church" (or your zip code and then choose St. Matthew Catholic Church).  Once you choose the correct church, follow the easy steps.  Using your Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover accounts or, if you prefer, using your checking or savings accounts, you can set up an automatic, monthly offertory gift and/or specific contributions.  As you will see at the website, you may also designate your Easter and Christmas gifts as well as designate a variety of other (second) collections or specific contributions.  Easter donations will be debited in April or May (depending on where Easter falls-anywhere from late March to the middle of April) and Christmas will be debited in December.

It is important to recognize Parish Pay is a monthly contribution program.  So, if you are in the habit of making a weekly gift you will need to multiply your weekly gift by 4.3 (52 weekends in a year divided by 12 months)-that way you're automated gift will equal your normal weekly contribution for the month.  Your monthly contribution will be debited on the 5th of every month, automatically.  Therefore, new accounts must be set up by the close of business on the 4th of every month.

If you would like to stop receiving the parish donation envelopes in the mail once you start using Parish Pay, you must contact the St. Matthew Administration Offices at 478-5000 for this to occur.  It can take 2 or 3 months for this to take place once your request is processed.
