SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES 

1. If there are only THREE Altar Servers, #4’s duties are done by #1.

 

2. If there are only TWO Altar Servers, #1 and #4 are done by #1.

#1 will still bring in the Processional Cross. #2 will place one of the candles on the right side of the ambo and have it lit. S/He will process in with the other lit candle. As the Liturgy of the Eucharist begins, #2 takes first one of the candles to the Altar and then the second one. This is to be done slowly, carefully and reverently.

 

3. If there is only ONE Altar Server, s/he must do ALL ITEMS as listed here.

 

S/He places SACRAMENTARY at #4’s place BEFORE MASS BEGINS.

 

S/He will place the candles on both sides of the ambo and light them.

 

S/He will bring in the Processional Cross. As the Liturgy of the Eucharist begins, s/he takes first one of the candles to the Altar and then the second one. This is to be done slowly, carefully and reverently.
