ALTAR SERVER #2 - #3 – CANDLE BEARERS

1. Check off your name in the Altar Server’s Attendance Sheet.

 

2. Put on a proper size alb and correct color cincture for the Liturgy.

3. Pray with the priest, deacon and other liturgical ministers in the Sacristy before Liturgy begins.

 

4. NO EARLIER THAN 5 MINUTES BEFORE MASS, LIGHT two processional candles that are located in the “Altar Servers” room.

 

5. At the signal of the priest or deacon, follow the cross bearer in for the Liturgy. A space of 3 pews for each group is appropriate distance.

 

6. The two candle bearers walk behind the processional cross, AS2 on the left; AS3 on the right.

 

7. At the FOOT OF THE SANCTUARY, BOW together with your partner.

 

8. Place candles on either side of the ambo – AS2 to the left of the ambo; AS3 to the right of the ambo.

 

9. AS2 and AS3’s seats are on the two stools between the Commentator and the Deacon.

 

10. As the Liturgy of the Eucharist begins(when the Ushers begin to distribute the baskets), take the two candles and place on either side of the Altar. This is after the announcements, but before the receiving the gifts.

 

 

11. Stand by the priest and deacon to receive gifts from the people.

 

12. Wait until all gifts have been received before going to the Altar.

 

13. Bring up the CHALICE, PURIFICATOR and PALL to the Altar if the Deacon has not done so.

 

14. Return to the Credence Table, the PALL, and any CIBORIUM LIDS, the FLAGON TOP.

 

15. Bring up the FINGER BOWL and the TOWEL so that the Celebrant can wash his hands.

 

 

16. At the conclusion of the “Holy, Holy”, kneel on the left side steps during the Eucharistic Prayer.

17. At communion time, you are to stand in line at one of the Communion Stations, going to the one closest to where you sit. Receive communion from the Eucharistic Minister. Receive communion from the Eucharistic Minister.

 

 

18. After receiving communion, return to your seats and either sing or quietly pray

 

19. At the dismissal, take up processional candles and stand at your proper place for leaving the sanctuary. On the LEFT, together.

 

 

20. After the Sending Forth Song is finished, extinguish any remaining candles at the altar or ambo

 

21. Hang up your alb and cincture neatly.
